Children love these brightly colored and well-designed bed wetting alarms from Malem. A small, ultra lightweight alarm is comfortably worn on the nightwear close to the shoulder. It weighs less than one ounce including batteries and even glows when sounding!
The bedwetting alarm is connected to a clip-on moisture sensor which anchors to the outside of any close fitting underwear for boys or girls. Sensor contacts are within the clip so skin contact or sweating will not trigger the alarm.
Malem alarms are well constructed and durable, with sounds that wake children. Available with a single tone (red) or 8 separate tones (yellow) to prevent "audio accommodation" - getting used to one sound and tuning it out. A different non-selectable tone is activated each time the alarm is triggered on the yellow alarm. The alarm sounds continuously until the sensor is removed, allowing you or your child sufficient time to effectively respond to the alarm.
Included with every Malem Bedwetting Alarm are instructions for use, charts to track progress and one set of batteries. Uses 3 alkaline "button" style batteries per set (Eveready A76).
Comments from the

If you asked your child which bed wetting alarm they would choose, this would be it! Kid's love the "cool" colors and design, and parents love the Easy-Clip sensor that children can easily clip onto the underwear themselves. This very small alarm is great for children less than eight.
Parents often ask if a single tone or 8 tone alarm work "better" to cure enuresis. Since there is no research to support the selection of one type over another, the choice is a personal one. Pure behaviorists would recommend a single tone bedwetting alarm, while families whose children seem to "tune out" sounds quickly might choose a random tone alarm. Both alarms work well in alerting the child and family that they need to get up to go to the bathroom.
This Malem alarm takes 3 A76 Batteries that last for approximately one hour of sounding time. Extra batteries (set of 3) can be purchased for $6.00 here.

Questions on Malem Bedwetting Alarm
- From Oliver at 3/14/09
- Do I need more than one sensor?
- No, the Easy-clip sensor is simply reattached to clean underwear after wetting occurs.
- From Elizabeth at 10/20/09
- How long do the batteries last?
- One set of batteries lasts for about one hour of sounding time. In the beginning, more frequent wetting and slower response may require regular changing of batteries. As child improves and has less wetting, batteries do not have to be changed as often. Having an extra set on hand is recommended.
- From Emily at 2/2/10
- Where should I clip the sensor?
- The Easy Clip sensor should be clipped to the outside of the underwear about where you think the first drops of moisture will appear. In general, clip the sensor to the front, outside of the underwear (y-fold area of a boys brief) for boys, and down lower towards the crotch area for girls.
- From Jessica at 5/11/11
- Iām worried that my daughter will be scared of the loud sound. Any suggestions?
- Most children sleep very soundly and may not even respond to the alarm. Practice with the alarm by turning it on and off before she goes to sleep so she realizes that it is just a reminder sound and not something that is scary.
- From Frank Schlosser at 12/9/12
- Where is the alarm made?
- Malem bedwetting alarms are made in the United Kingdom.
- From Alex at 12/12/12
- How long will this alarm take to cure my child?
- Every child is different, but the average time it takes for a child using a bedwetting alarm to have consistent dry nights is 8-12 weeks.
- From parent 12/23/12
- Does this alarm come with vibration?
- No, this particular alarm has a sound-only alert, using with a single tone or a random tone. If you are looking for an alarm with both sound and vibration, check out: Malem Ultimate, Malem Recordable, Dry-Me, or Rodger Clippo.

Our Story (including relapse)
- Comments about Malem Bedwetting Alarm:
I have never written a product review...I rely on them heavily, but have never written one myself. I decided I would write one for this alarm if my daughter was still successful after 6 months. I wanted to provide long term success information. When my daughter turned 7, she had never had a dry night. Not even when she was dehydrated from a stomach virus...We decided to use an alarm. I myself was a bedwetter and I still wet the bed until I was 18 yrs old on occasion. I was a child when the first alarms came out and I have to say, they have improved drastically. I knew I had to act or my daughter would follow in my footsteps. I was unreaslitically hopeful that she would succeed quickly like some of the other stories I read on here. The alarm went off every night for 2 weeks and I pretty much had to help her to the bathroom each night. Unfortunately, with our upcoming vacation, followed by the start of the school year, I decided we would abandon our efforts until at least October and try again. The timing wasn't right. We went on vacation and I brought Good Night Pants with us. Well, to our surprise, she kept the pants dry the first night of vacation. I thought it was a fluke but she was dry the next night, and the one after that and the one after that. We came home from vacation and she was dry. She was dry every night for 6 weeks! so I thought the alarm worked, just in a very weird way. Well, 6 weeks later she began to wet again. I reread my bible (7 steps to nighttime dryness) and realized we needed to return to wearing the alarm. She cried and protested. I didn't know what to do. I emailed the bedwetting store and got such a helpful response from the nurse urging us not to force her to wear the alarm. I mentioned in my email that she was scared of the loud noise and they suggested she wear it lower on her pj's (away from her ear) or put a piece of tape on the speaker to slightly muffle the alarm sound. Luckily, my daughter agreed to wear the alarm again and we put it a little away from her ear. The first night, it went off and she, unlike the other times got up on her own and got into the bathroom. I think the same thing happened on the second night, but that was it. After that, the alarm did not go off at all. She went through the night. We wore it for 14 nights and then did a few fluid challenges. We are now 6 months past relapse and she has been dry ever since. I don't pay attention to what she drinks right before bedtime now. I have faith that she will awaken in the night or that she will sleep right through which she does. I am so grateful that my daughter does not have to have a bedwetting problem that lasts her whole childhood like I did. This alarm really does work and it really does condition the brain to respond to a full bladder.
- bottom line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
