- Malem Ultimate Bedwetting Alarm
SOUND AND VIBRATION IN ONE ALARM! Everything you need, now in one compact bed wetting alarm. The Malem ULTIMATE combines light, sound and vibration to help even the deepest sleeper wake. A selectable combination of sound and vibration suits the needs of the child. A selection switch can be easily set to sound only, sound and vibration, or vibration only.
Compact and lightweight (less than two ounces including two AAA batteries) with all the advanced features and advantages of the world famous Malem bedwetting alarms. In addition to vibration, the different alarms provide one tone (purple, blue, pink), 8 random tones (gold) to prevent "auditory accommodation", or the newest Selectable model (magenta, royal blue, camouflage) that provides a choice of single sounds or 8 random sounds.
The alarm is connected to a small clip-on sensor which detects moisture and anchors to the outside of any close fitting underwear for boys or girls. No sewing to hassle with or metal clips or snaps to come undone during the night. No mini-pads to buy and attach each night! Sensor contacts are within the clip so skin contact or sweating will not trigger the alarm. The alarm sounds continuously until the sensor is removed, allowing you or your child sufficient time to effectively respond to the alarm.
Included with every Malem bedwetting alarm are instructions for use, charts to track progress and batteries. The MALEM ULTIMATE uses inexpensive AAA batteries that last up to 10 times longer than standard "button" batteries found in nearly all other bedwetting alarms.
This is our best combination sound/vibration bedwetting alarm. It is slightly larger than the regular Malem alarm and the vibration is similar to a pager. If you are considering purchasing a similar "potty alarm", this is the alarm for you. It has BOTH sound and vibration. Remember, most children need help during the first few days or weeks to awaken when they wet. An auditory bed wetting alarm is necessary for you to help them.
Parents often ask about a single tone versus a multiple tone alarm. No research has been conducted to determine if one tone is more effective than another for curing enuresis. This is a personal preference.
Pure behaviorists would recommend a single tone bedwetting alarm. The one tone Malem alarms (blue, purple, pink) sound the same each time they sound. (Note that each color is a little different sounding.) Click on the icon to hear the various sounds and pick what you like best! If you're working with more than one child at a time, select different tones so you will know who needs your help.
Some families have found that their child seems to tune out sounds quickly. For this situation, a random 8-tone alarm would be beneficial. The gold alarm has 8 tones and is always random (you cannot choose to select only one). The three selectable tone alarms offer you all the options - the ability to choose a single tone or to rotate through 8 tones. The selectable bedwetting alarm is available in magenta, royal blue or camouflage.

I use it for my son which is a very hard sleeper and it wakes him right up where as other alarms I have tried did not help at all.
1 stars, not for us

This worked so fast & gave my daughter a much needed confidence boost. I only wish I had found it sooner!
3 stars, It didn't work that well for us.
By Kim from Omaha, NE on 2016-10-16
I was really hoping this was the answer for my son. Before we even were able to use it, the plastic piece broke off and I superglued it back so we could use it. It does have a nice variety of alarm sounds and the option to use the vibration with or without sound.
4 stars, A work in progress.

Pros: Alarm is very loud.
Cons: My lack of sleep. Had to get used to.
Best Uses: Bedtime.
My son is 10 years old. We have been using this alarm for about 1 month and it is helping. I guess from the other reviews I was thinking this wouldn't take this long. I now realize it is a slow process. He has gone from being wet ,sometimes soaked through nearly every night, to dampness. The alarm is loud, but he is a very heavy sleeper. My only problem with this alarm is my lack of sleep. As I said he can be a heavy sleeper, so I find myself imagining I hear the alarm when I am asleep. The first week or so I didn't get any sleep. He is getting to the point in time where he is getting himself out of bed, but then he tries to disconnect the top first before the bottom. He doesn't understand why it is still sounding out. I hope to have him out of using the alarm within the next month.
5 stars, This product had excellent results with my 9 year old.

This product did a great job at getting my 9 year old daughter to stop wetting the bed.She says it is annoying, which is a good thing!

By Jenn from Denver Colorado on 2016-09-24
We had been waking our 7 year old daughter up every night to use the bathroom for over a month, and were seeing no changes. I started researching options online and came across this product. Within less than three weeks our daughter was sleeping through the night with no accidents, consistently. It is fantastic! Can't recommend it highly enough!
5 stars, Yippee skippy no more pee sheets for us
By Less laundry for us from Melbourne, KY on 2016-09-24
6 yo boy was dry through the night at 3 yo. Got sick- regressed and would only get a dry bed once a month at the most. Tried pull-ups which gave no incentive for staying dry and the past year (before alarm) we had been washing sheets every single day. Seriously. After 6 nights he kept the bed dry getting up with the alarm. After another 10 nights he is now sleeping through the night and the alarm isn't going off. We are currently mid week 4 and he is a brand new boy. He wants to keep his bed dry and now says he is going to keep it dry whereas before he would say that he would try and be all glum about it. We are just disappointed we waited so long to get it. By the way, he is a very strong willed child and not exactly thrilled with the alarm after the first couple nights. Once he realized it helped keep him dry he was all about it.
5 stars, This is the only thing that worked for our daughter!
By Pull-up pro from Robinson, IL on 2016-09-23
Our daughter is 7 and had sudden onset bed wetting at the age of 5 1/2. She was soaking a pull-up every night and the doctor even had her using an overactive bladder medication. It was not helping so they called in yet another medication. It was so expensive, plus I didn't feel that it would really help so I started researching monitors. I honestly did not have high expectations, but this thing really works! By the second week, she was waking up to the alarm and even had her first dry night! This is our fourth week and she just had 7 dry nights in a row!!! She is so proud of herself and we are no longer buying pull-ups or washing sheets and comforters every day. I can't say enough about this wonderful product!
5 stars, Excellent product

Cured my 10 year old son's nighttime enuresis in 3 weeks!!! Oh how I wish I had bought this wonderful alarm several years ago. My son is a very deep sleeper. When we started using the alarm, he would wake up as soon as the alarm went off and only had minimal wetness in his underpants. Then he started having some nights where he would not wake up, but was also staying dry (this had never happened before). After three weeks, I reread the instructions because I was curious about when he would start to wake up BEFORE the alarm went off. It was then that I read the tip about telling your child at bedtime each night to "wake up before the alarm goes off." We would make a game of it and laugh as I would stare into his eyes like a hypnotist and repeat the phrase a couple of times. Well let me tell you what, I was skeptical about this little trick, but he woke up before the alarm on the FIRST night that we did that, and has woken up before the alarm EVERY NIGHT since. He has stayed dry and woken up to use the bathroom on his own for 2 weeks now! I am shocked and so pleased that it worked this quickly. I only wish that I had bought this for him years ago to save him so much sadness and anxiety about his nighttime enuresis. The directions say that there needs to be 5 weeks in a row of dryness before he can start to sleep without the alarm hooked up, so we will continue to do so. As parents, we are so relieved that our son can move past this difficult time in his childhood, and gain nighttime confidence. Our son is so happy to finally feel like he is in control of his nighttime needs. Thank you, Malem!!!
3 stars, Not working as well as hoped
By Monkeygirl_7878 from Ohio on 2016-09-02
It has been 4 weeks and still not a dry night. We have had to change batteries twice already. It does clip on nicely. It is good he can wear a pull-up over the sensor and underwear to help minimize laundry.
5 stars, Life-Changing! Don't hesitate to try this!
By Mom of 2 bedwetters from Alabama on 2016-08-24
I want to jump up and declare Victory! over bedwetting after getting this alarm. We had tried everything to try and help our son (now 7 years old) who had been bedwetting for 2 years. Boy do I wish I had ordered this sooner! He was terrified of the alarm the 1st night but after the 2nd night he was totally fine with it. It started working right away. For the first 2 weeks or so it went off pretty regularly but with great results of him stopping the wetting and going to the bathroom. After a few weeks it only went of sporadically and after about 8 weeks with consistent dry nights and no alarm we took him off of it. He has been 3 weeks with no accidents. To see the pride he has now in being able to control his bladder every night is amazing. We are so thankful we ordered this bed alarm! Now, we have passed it on to his brother who is a really deep sleeper and it is already starting to work! If you are unsure, try it! It could change your life!
5 stars, Results in one day and dry within a month.
By Mom of bedwetters. from Grosse Pointe, MI on 2016-08-19
My 9-year-old son is a deep sleeper, who woke up with a wet pull-up every morning and sometimes soaked through in the middle of the night. The first couple of nights we used the Malem bed alarm, he woke up to use the bathroom on his own, simply out of fear of hearing the alarm! That did not continue, but with just the smallest drop of liquid, the alarm did trigger. It was loud enough to wake up my son, but not too loud to wake siblings and parents across the hallway. He was able to use the alarm without my assistance, even when groggy in the middle of the night. My son is now dry after about a month with the alarm. He is very happy to be pull-up free and wearing his underwear at night, and I am happy to be free of changing sheets. Time to hand down the alarm to his little sister!
5 stars, Well worth the money

This was great! We followed the directions and had our son sleep in our room initially. He started waking up on his own within 2 weeks and has not had any accidents!
1 stars, I does not work...I would like to get my money back
By Waste of money and time from Nesconset NY on 2016-08-15
Again...it does not work...I would not recommend this product. The clip is way to narrow and small and it will come off if the child moves around...this product stinks.
5 stars, Wish I would have tried it sooner!
By Momo from Charleston sc on 2016-08-10
Scared him the first night. Definitely needed to help turn it off, which is a good thing I guess. So glad I finally gave up on him outgrowing the issue. Entering 3rd grade and so glad this worked!
5 stars, Awesome...works like a charm...Sorry I waited so long

Used for my 10 year old son. Wow. He was so ready. Have since recommended to a family member for their 2 sons. First night was very wet. Next 2 weeks slightly wet, but son woke up. Now dry for 3 weeks. Hooray!
4 stars, It's working!

Wish reset button would shut off alarm. Only stops while holding down button. I have to disconnect the sensor to get it to stop buzzing. Otherwise, very please.

5 stars, Our saving grace!
By Sara from Round Rock, TX on 2016-07-18
We'd tried everything to get our 5 year to stay dry at night. He usually woke very wet EVERY morning, sometimes soaked through a pull-up. Finally decided to give the Malem Ultimate Bedwetting Alarm a try at the recommendation of our pediatrician. I'd heard promising things about it. I went into it with an open mind and braced myself for the long haul, as it said it could take up to 12 weeks. The very first night we had amazing results! Not completely dry but the alarm woke him in time to stop peeing! I was stoked! It was up and down the next week and a half (mostly ups-with only a small amount of urine!), by the end of the 2nd week, he started waking up dry! I was amazed at how fast it worked and his confidence is through the roof! We are still using it the recommended time (2 weeks dry and then every other night for 2 weeks) but I am hopeful with the outcome! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone! It has been our saving grace!
5 stars, Instant Success

Our son has wet his bed for the past 5 years. Since we got the alarm 6 weeks ago he has not had an accident. Keeping our fingers crossed it continues. Should have got this years ago!
5 stars, Answered Prayers!

After showing my son how to use the alarm, he quickly picked up on it. He puts it on by himself and doesn't need any help from me.
5 stars, It's a miracle worker! Dry nights in 2 weeks!
By Happy Momma from Kansas City on 2016-06-30
I didn't think there was any hope for my 8 year old son. He just didn't care that he was wet (often soaked beyond an Overnite's capacity). When we brought the pamphlet home from his well check-up with this device in it, he was excited to order the camouflage. He took over! He read and learned how to assemble it (better than I did!). And he worked hard. He was wet in the begininning, but by the 3rd night, he had taken full responsibility, got up on his own, changed his slightly damp underwear on his own, and was consistently dry by 2 weeks. I think age worked in our favor. I'm not sure how it would work had he been younger or didn't want to be dry as badly as I did!
1 stars, Disappointing experience
By HLR from California on 2016-06-27
I am very disappointed. Our doctor had given me a brochure thinking it would be helpful for our 7 year old daughter who is a very sound sleeper. All it did was scare her each night out of a deep sleep. For our situation it was not helpful at all. She is still not waking up on her own to use the bathroom. She complained it was uncomfortable to wear on her shirt at night.
1 stars, A Month In, Still No Success and Item is Breaking
By niccan from Vancouver, WA on 2016-06-27
Pros: It usually goes off when she has an accident
Cons: The clip breaks easily, Causes my daughter to panic, The cord is placed in an awkward positon
My 5 1/2 year old daughter really wants to be done with Pull Ups and I hoped this would be the solution. However, when the alarm goes off, it causes her to panic, so instead of getting pee in a Pull Up, she gets it on her bed and bedding and leaves a trail all the way from her room to my bedroom and then to the bathroom. She has not gotten up to use the restroom in the middle of the night even once since we began using it over a month ago. I'm trying to make it to 6 weeks (it said most kids are potty trained in 4-6 weeks) but the clip is hanging by a thread so I'm not sure if it will make it. If not, I will likely have to face an even bigger battle of trying to get her to wear Pull Ups again since now she is used to not wearing them. I also feel the product is poorly designed. The end of the cord resembles a landline's cord, which is meant to be plugged into a phone or wall and left plugged in for months at a time. You cannot shut off the alarm without unplugging this cord, so it is getting unplugged and plugged in far more often and is entirely too frail to withstand the abuse as well as the abuse from being laid on. Also, the alarm itself clips on the neck of her shirt and the cord is brought up through the neck then is bent downward so it can clip into the bottom of the unit. This turns the whole unit sideways and probably puts pressure on the clip at the end of the cord. It seems like it would make more sense to have the cord clip into the sides of the unit so the cord isn't getting bent and the unit isn't forced to twist so much.
