- Malem Ultimate Bedwetting Alarm
SOUND AND VIBRATION IN ONE ALARM! Everything you need, now in one compact bed wetting alarm. The Malem ULTIMATE combines light, sound and vibration to help even the deepest sleeper wake. A selectable combination of sound and vibration suits the needs of the child. A selection switch can be easily set to sound only, sound and vibration, or vibration only.
Compact and lightweight (less than two ounces including two AAA batteries) with all the advanced features and advantages of the world famous Malem bedwetting alarms. In addition to vibration, the different alarms provide one tone (purple, blue, pink), 8 random tones (gold) to prevent "auditory accommodation", or the newest Selectable model (magenta, royal blue, camouflage) that provides a choice of single sounds or 8 random sounds.
The alarm is connected to a small clip-on sensor which detects moisture and anchors to the outside of any close fitting underwear for boys or girls. No sewing to hassle with or metal clips or snaps to come undone during the night. No mini-pads to buy and attach each night! Sensor contacts are within the clip so skin contact or sweating will not trigger the alarm. The alarm sounds continuously until the sensor is removed, allowing you or your child sufficient time to effectively respond to the alarm.
Included with every Malem bedwetting alarm are instructions for use, charts to track progress and batteries. The MALEM ULTIMATE uses inexpensive AAA batteries that last up to 10 times longer than standard "button" batteries found in nearly all other bedwetting alarms.
This is our best combination sound/vibration bedwetting alarm. It is slightly larger than the regular Malem alarm and the vibration is similar to a pager. If you are considering purchasing a similar "potty alarm", this is the alarm for you. It has BOTH sound and vibration. Remember, most children need help during the first few days or weeks to awaken when they wet. An auditory bed wetting alarm is necessary for you to help them.
Parents often ask about a single tone versus a multiple tone alarm. No research has been conducted to determine if one tone is more effective than another for curing enuresis. This is a personal preference.
Pure behaviorists would recommend a single tone bedwetting alarm. The one tone Malem alarms (blue, purple, pink) sound the same each time they sound. (Note that each color is a little different sounding.) Click on the icon to hear the various sounds and pick what you like best! If you're working with more than one child at a time, select different tones so you will know who needs your help.
Some families have found that their child seems to tune out sounds quickly. For this situation, a random 8-tone alarm would be beneficial. The gold alarm has 8 tones and is always random (you cannot choose to select only one). The three selectable tone alarms offer you all the options - the ability to choose a single tone or to rotate through 8 tones. The selectable bedwetting alarm is available in magenta, royal blue or camouflage.

4 stars, Would like to see one that interfaces with an app.
By Rydeyz from Bonaire, GA on 2017-01-15
This thing works well but I'd like for it to notify me over an app or Bluetooth since I'm usually unable to hear it go off.
5 stars, Working Great!!! Well worth every penny!
By Jess H. from Macungie, PA on 2017-01-12
So my husband and I were skeptical but desperate to get our 10 year old to wake up dry. The alarm works great! He's a very deep sleeper and this wakes him right up. About a week or so of the alarm waking him up after he started to urinate but now he's waking up on his own and dry every morning! Well worth every penny!!!
4 stars, We have had improvements!!
By Mom of a frustrated bedwetter from MI on 2017-01-11
Pros: It vibrates, Clip stays on
Cons: Takes some practice to use clip while sleepy, Should have more than one sound choice, Alarm could be louder
Best Uses: Alerting bedwetter to their nocturnal enuresis
We are still in the process of using this product. My son is 12 years old. He has been on a few different medications and we have used another alarm prior to this one. We have seen specialists and primary doctors without any solutions. My son has never had a dry night ever in his entire lifetime! He has urinated so much that nighttime pads, diapers, pull-ups were useless. He would wake soaked every night for 12 years! We also tried waking him throughout the night and he would still somehow wet his bed. We tried increasing water through day and reducing water in afternoon and having none in the evening. We have tried other random tricks read online, such as eating raisins and walnuts before bedtime. He never has had caffeine. He never had sugar before bed (with the exception to the raisins). He was very negative about trying this alarm as he has never had success with anything. We started it the day after Christmas. The first night, it went off about two hours after falling asleep and he was not getting up, so I went in and woke him. I reminded him that he has to listen for the sound and recognize the feeling to wake up. The next time it went off, he got himself up! The FIRST time ever that something woke him up. He is a VERY deep sleeper. The next time it went off, he woke up again, yay! It went off three times every night and then all of a sudden it when down to one. It has been consistently one time for around a week now. Last night, for the FIRST time, he did NOT wet his bed!!! He beat his alarm and woke up to use the bathroom two times! Yay! I will come back to update if we have anymore success. One thing I would recommend, that your child goes to sleep at an earlier time rather than late. The exhaustion causes them to sleep deeper and messes with the effectiveness of the alarm. He went down to one time a night after we adjusted his bedtime to earlier. (He started this alarm on his school break, so late nights were involved). Best of luck!!
1 stars, Broke very quickly
By Marisa from Pleasantville ny on 2017-01-11
It broke within two weeks. Very disappointee
5 stars, Heavy sleeper may struggle
By mom from Madison, WI on 2017-01-09
My 8 year old daughter is a very heavy sleeper. Prior to alarm use, she would often sleep through bed-wetting. I believe there are other issues at play, so I would reinforce that this is a process and the alarm may not be your salvation, but it does what it's supposed to do. It wakes her up, though one con would be that she can easily un-clip and fall back asleep if she wants to. She was adamant that we not get the alarm with special undies though, which is why we didn't go with the other top recommended brand. I couldn't hear it go off sleeping about 40' away down the hall though were I in her room I would definitely wake up. I have not had any issues whatsoever with malfunctioning; I simply rinse it off every other day in warm water. We've been using about 7 weeks now and I would say we are at about 50/50 approaching 60/40 dry to wet nights. The accidents themselves are much smaller and don't as often involve sheets/blankets as it wakes her quickly - the only time it gets more involved is if she just shuts it off and goes back to sleep. One trick that helped was clipping the base unit onto a tank top underneath her pajama top; that makes her have to fumble around a little bit more to turn it off.If your child is a heavy sleeper, I would consider purchasing the other alarm that has a base unit you can put across the room just to get them out of bed and try to facilitate the process of changing/going to the bathroom.
5 stars, Worked it under two weeks
By Matt from Seattle, WA on 2016-12-21
If you are debating about buying this, like I was, don't. It worked for our 7 year old son. Has kept the bed dry for 10 days in a row now. Before this, had never done it more than 1 day in a row.
5 stars, Answered prayers!
By Thankful mom from South Carolina on 2016-12-12
So glad I finally got this! Only took 3 weeks and my 10 year old has been dry for over a week now!
5 stars, Excellent
By Bea from El Salvador on 2016-12-07
It works just as explained
1 stars, No - at this point it has had no effect on helping my son.
By Nic from Canada on 2016-12-03
We tried this for about 1 month - no effect on him and his bedwetting. Some nights he soaked himself before it even sounded. We followed the instructions exactly and called for help and got a very disinterested service person on the phone with no ideas but to keep trying. Very disappointed.
2 stars, Product doesn't work when battery cover closed
By Lubna from Ontario Canada on 2016-11-30
Pros: using without battery cover still works, Very annoying alarm helps
Cons: Doesn't work with battery cover closed, Very annoying siren
when we got it it was difficult to Figure it out. The product manual is not well written. Product doesn't work with battery cover on so we are using it without the battery cover. When we put the cover on it seems to pull at the seams and you can see the whole contraption separating from seams so problem in production. We have used it for two weeks now and we see an improvement with bedwetting. Maybe need it for another month or so.
3 stars, So so product
By Sun shine from NJ, New Jersey on 2016-11-18
Could be louder . SMall cheap plastic clip that can break easy and not long enough to attach to clothing.
1 stars, Broke before we could use it
By Crystal from Corona, CA on 2016-11-16
Cons: Clip breaks easily
I purchased this for my daughter. Just in testing it to see how it would work the clip broke. It was hard to figure out how to disarm it. When we got the replacement piece for the clip another piece was lost and it was again unusable. Returning it.
5 stars, I would absolutely buy this product again
By LJ from Canada on 2016-10-21
My son was dry within just a few days and has kept dry for two weeks and counting!
5 stars, This product is wonderful, I would definately order it again
By Red from Rockford, IL on 2016-10-18
I use it for my son which is a very hard sleeper and it wakes him right up where as other alarms I have tried did not help at all.
1 stars, not for us
By hunter from Hendersonville, NC on 2016-10-18
this product did not work for us
5 stars, I wish I had bought this sooner, it works so well!
By emilyh from oregon on 2016-10-16
This worked so fast & gave my daughter a much needed confidence boost. I only wish I had found it sooner!
3 stars, It didn't work that well for us.
By Kim from Omaha, NE on 2016-10-16
I was really hoping this was the answer for my son. Before we even were able to use it, the plastic piece broke off and I superglued it back so we could use it. It does have a nice variety of alarm sounds and the option to use the vibration with or without sound.
4 stars, A work in progress.
By NixMom from Jonestown, Pa on 2016-10-13
Pros: Alarm is very loud.
Cons: My lack of sleep. Had to get used to.
Best Uses: Bedtime.
My son is 10 years old. We have been using this alarm for about 1 month and it is helping. I guess from the other reviews I was thinking this wouldn't take this long. I now realize it is a slow process. He has gone from being wet ,sometimes soaked through nearly every night, to dampness. The alarm is loud, but he is a very heavy sleeper. My only problem with this alarm is my lack of sleep. As I said he can be a heavy sleeper, so I find myself imagining I hear the alarm when I am asleep. The first week or so I didn't get any sleep. He is getting to the point in time where he is getting himself out of bed, but then he tries to disconnect the top first before the bottom. He doesn't understand why it is still sounding out. I hope to have him out of using the alarm within the next month.
5 stars, This product had excellent results with my 9 year old.
By Jon from Nashville, TN on 2016-10-09
This product did a great job at getting my 9 year old daughter to stop wetting the bed.She says it is annoying, which is a good thing!
5 stars, I would recommend this product.
By Mom in Iowa from Ia on 2016-10-06
Two weeks is all it took!
5 stars, Miraculous!
By Jenn from Denver Colorado on 2016-09-24
We had been waking our 7 year old daughter up every night to use the bathroom for over a month, and were seeing no changes. I started researching options online and came across this product. Within less than three weeks our daughter was sleeping through the night with no accidents, consistently. It is fantastic! Can't recommend it highly enough!
5 stars, Yippee skippy no more pee sheets for us
By Less laundry for us from Melbourne, KY on 2016-09-24
6 yo boy was dry through the night at 3 yo. Got sick- regressed and would only get a dry bed once a month at the most. Tried pull-ups which gave no incentive for staying dry and the past year (before alarm) we had been washing sheets every single day. Seriously. After 6 nights he kept the bed dry getting up with the alarm. After another 10 nights he is now sleeping through the night and the alarm isn't going off. We are currently mid week 4 and he is a brand new boy. He wants to keep his bed dry and now says he is going to keep it dry whereas before he would say that he would try and be all glum about it. We are just disappointed we waited so long to get it. By the way, he is a very strong willed child and not exactly thrilled with the alarm after the first couple nights. Once he realized it helped keep him dry he was all about it.
5 stars, This is the only thing that worked for our daughter!
By Pull-up pro from Robinson, IL on 2016-09-23
Our daughter is 7 and had sudden onset bed wetting at the age of 5 1/2. She was soaking a pull-up every night and the doctor even had her using an overactive bladder medication. It was not helping so they called in yet another medication. It was so expensive, plus I didn't feel that it would really help so I started researching monitors. I honestly did not have high expectations, but this thing really works! By the second week, she was waking up to the alarm and even had her first dry night! This is our fourth week and she just had 7 dry nights in a row!!! She is so proud of herself and we are no longer buying pull-ups or washing sheets and comforters every day. I can't say enough about this wonderful product!
5 stars, Excellent product

I use this for clients I work with who have autism,
5 stars, I wish I had bought this years ago.
By gratefulmom from Nashville, TN on 2016-09-15
Cured my 10 year old son's nighttime enuresis in 3 weeks!!! Oh how I wish I had bought this wonderful alarm several years ago. My son is a very deep sleeper. When we started using the alarm, he would wake up as soon as the alarm went off and only had minimal wetness in his underpants. Then he started having some nights where he would not wake up, but was also staying dry (this had never happened before). After three weeks, I reread the instructions because I was curious about when he would start to wake up BEFORE the alarm went off. It was then that I read the tip about telling your child at bedtime each night to "wake up before the alarm goes off." We would make a game of it and laugh as I would stare into his eyes like a hypnotist and repeat the phrase a couple of times. Well let me tell you what, I was skeptical about this little trick, but he woke up before the alarm on the FIRST night that we did that, and has woken up before the alarm EVERY NIGHT since. He has stayed dry and woken up to use the bathroom on his own for 2 weeks now! I am shocked and so pleased that it worked this quickly. I only wish that I had bought this for him years ago to save him so much sadness and anxiety about his nighttime enuresis. The directions say that there needs to be 5 weeks in a row of dryness before he can start to sleep without the alarm hooked up, so we will continue to do so. As parents, we are so relieved that our son can move past this difficult time in his childhood, and gain nighttime confidence. Our son is so happy to finally feel like he is in control of his nighttime needs. Thank you, Malem!!!
3 stars, Not working as well as hoped
By Monkeygirl_7878 from Ohio on 2016-09-02
It has been 4 weeks and still not a dry night. We have had to change batteries twice already. It does clip on nicely. It is good he can wear a pull-up over the sensor and underwear to help minimize laundry.
5 stars, Life-Changing! Don't hesitate to try this!
By Mom of 2 bedwetters from Alabama on 2016-08-24
I want to jump up and declare Victory! over bedwetting after getting this alarm. We had tried everything to try and help our son (now 7 years old) who had been bedwetting for 2 years. Boy do I wish I had ordered this sooner! He was terrified of the alarm the 1st night but after the 2nd night he was totally fine with it. It started working right away. For the first 2 weeks or so it went off pretty regularly but with great results of him stopping the wetting and going to the bathroom. After a few weeks it only went of sporadically and after about 8 weeks with consistent dry nights and no alarm we took him off of it. He has been 3 weeks with no accidents. To see the pride he has now in being able to control his bladder every night is amazing. We are so thankful we ordered this bed alarm! Now, we have passed it on to his brother who is a really deep sleeper and it is already starting to work! If you are unsure, try it! It could change your life!
5 stars, Results in one day and dry within a month.
By Mom of bedwetters. from Grosse Pointe, MI on 2016-08-19
My 9-year-old son is a deep sleeper, who woke up with a wet pull-up every morning and sometimes soaked through in the middle of the night. The first couple of nights we used the Malem bed alarm, he woke up to use the bathroom on his own, simply out of fear of hearing the alarm! That did not continue, but with just the smallest drop of liquid, the alarm did trigger. It was loud enough to wake up my son, but not too loud to wake siblings and parents across the hallway. He was able to use the alarm without my assistance, even when groggy in the middle of the night. My son is now dry after about a month with the alarm. He is very happy to be pull-up free and wearing his underwear at night, and I am happy to be free of changing sheets. Time to hand down the alarm to his little sister!
5 stars, Well worth the money
By Grace from Chicago, il on 2016-08-17
This was great! We followed the directions and had our son sleep in our room initially. He started waking up on his own within 2 weeks and has not had any accidents!
1 stars, I does not work...I would like to get my money back
By Waste of money and time from Nesconset NY on 2016-08-15
Again...it does not work...I would not recommend this product. The clip is way to narrow and small and it will come off if the child moves around...this product stinks.
