- Malem Ultimate Bedwetting Alarm
SOUND AND VIBRATION IN ONE ALARM! Everything you need, now in one compact bed wetting alarm. The Malem ULTIMATE combines light, sound and vibration to help even the deepest sleeper wake. A selectable combination of sound and vibration suits the needs of the child. A selection switch can be easily set to sound only, sound and vibration, or vibration only.
Compact and lightweight (less than two ounces including two AAA batteries) with all the advanced features and advantages of the world famous Malem bedwetting alarms. In addition to vibration, the different alarms provide one tone (purple, blue, pink), 8 random tones (gold) to prevent "auditory accommodation", or the newest Selectable model (magenta, royal blue, camouflage) that provides a choice of single sounds or 8 random sounds.
The alarm is connected to a small clip-on sensor which detects moisture and anchors to the outside of any close fitting underwear for boys or girls. No sewing to hassle with or metal clips or snaps to come undone during the night. No mini-pads to buy and attach each night! Sensor contacts are within the clip so skin contact or sweating will not trigger the alarm. The alarm sounds continuously until the sensor is removed, allowing you or your child sufficient time to effectively respond to the alarm.
Included with every Malem bedwetting alarm are instructions for use, charts to track progress and batteries. The MALEM ULTIMATE uses inexpensive AAA batteries that last up to 10 times longer than standard "button" batteries found in nearly all other bedwetting alarms.
This is our best combination sound/vibration bedwetting alarm. It is slightly larger than the regular Malem alarm and the vibration is similar to a pager. If you are considering purchasing a similar "potty alarm", this is the alarm for you. It has BOTH sound and vibration. Remember, most children need help during the first few days or weeks to awaken when they wet. An auditory bed wetting alarm is necessary for you to help them.
Parents often ask about a single tone versus a multiple tone alarm. No research has been conducted to determine if one tone is more effective than another for curing enuresis. This is a personal preference.
Pure behaviorists would recommend a single tone bedwetting alarm. The one tone Malem alarms (blue, purple, pink) sound the same each time they sound. (Note that each color is a little different sounding.) Click on the icon to hear the various sounds and pick what you like best! If you're working with more than one child at a time, select different tones so you will know who needs your help.
Some families have found that their child seems to tune out sounds quickly. For this situation, a random 8-tone alarm would be beneficial. The gold alarm has 8 tones and is always random (you cannot choose to select only one). The three selectable tone alarms offer you all the options - the ability to choose a single tone or to rotate through 8 tones. The selectable bedwetting alarm is available in magenta, royal blue or camouflage.

1 stars, Not near Loud enough. Slept right through...
By Raquel from Austin on 2016-04-27
5 stars, I would buy this product again and recommend it!!
By mommy from Kansas City on 2016-04-27
My son is a very heavy and lazy sleeper. I hesitated buying an alarm for months but the reviews and noise options on the Malem was appealing. I am so so glad we went this route. In 3 weeks he has been wet 1 time. He doesn't want to stop wearing it because he's afraid he won't have success on his own. It doesnt even sound anymore in the nights because he now wakes himself up.
5 stars, 10 year problem solved in 2 weeks!
By THEMCS from Normal, IL on 2016-04-27
Pros: Incredibly Effective, Simple to use
I was prepared for a few months of gradual improvement for my 10 year old son, who has wet every single night for most of his life. He wet so much that even diapers wouldn't contain the wet. I kept track of his waking and wetting times for 2 weeks, and after that, HE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY DRY! Now, with or without the alarm, he gets up to go potty in the night or holds it until morning. I consider our 10 year problem SOLVED. His confidence is soaring and he finally feels like a real 10 year old boy!
4 stars, Good product
By Parent from Portland, OR on 2016-04-25
The price seems to be inflated a bit based on what it really does, but we've found it to be effective so far. If our son starts to wet the bed the alarm immediately sounds and vibrates and causes him to stop. It unfortunately doesn't wake him enough to cause him to make the trip to the bathroom, but we're hoping this will come with time-- we're only in week 5. It's a long process. Good product!
5 stars, Highly recommend product
By SatisfiedCustomer :0) from Texas on 2016-04-24
Pros: Easy to use; quick results
I am extremely happy with this product. I saw results within 2 weeks. My son has now been dry each night for 10 days straight when he used to wet the bed every night. I really wish I had bought the product years ago. Thank you bedwetting store!!
1 stars, Very disappointed with this product.
By I don't understand question from New Jersey on 2016-04-22
Very disappointed with this product. It would not stop ringing no matter what you did to turn it off; the alarm system appeared to sound off irregularly. My daughter is still bedwetting, and I thought I finally found my silver bullet. :-(
5 stars, Amazing how well this works!
By Mom who was running out of hope! from MN on 2016-04-15
Pros: Easy, Quick
I bought this for my 8-year-old son who was feeling defeated and like he'd never be dry at night. He was jealous that his 5-year-old sister was nighttime potty trained and did it all by herself. My husband and I were tired of buying pull-ups, so we thought we'd give it a try. The only regret I have is not getting it for him sooner. He's been using it for about 4 weeks now and 3 out of the 4 have been completely dry nights!!!!! We aren't ready to have him stop using it, because we don't want a set back. Before we started using this though he woke up every morning with SOAKING wet pull-ups. It's just amazing how helpful this really is!
1 stars, Too quiet to be effective
By Jerry from Beaufort, SC on 2016-04-11
Cons: It is too quiet and doesn't wake the child up.
If used on a very young or light sleeping xhild, it would probably be effective
3 stars, Go the extra mile
By J bird from Canada on 2016-04-07
Pros: Vibrate, sound or both, Easy to clip,, Very resppnsive
We'e been using this for about 3wks. The product works very well. My only complaint is that my son has a lot of trouble sleeping as he finds it very uncomfortable. The wire and the large box clipped to his shirt keeps him up and night, and he's generally a pretty good sleeper. In hind sight I would have spent the extra money to get something wireless as this is a long process and should be made as comfortable as possible. I am very glad it has a vibrate only option, that's all we use because my son is not keen to be startled awake by the alarm.
4 stars, Better than expected
By CJ from Baltimore, MD on 2016-04-07
My son sleeps really hard so wasn't sure it would wake him up. But it seems to be doing the trick. It took some convincing at first to get him to wear it but he can attach it himself and he is getting up. We are 100% out of the need for it yet but after about 3 weeks we are getting closer. I'm happy to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
5 stars, Finally dry after 10.5 years!!!
By Relieved Mama from Lecompton KS on 2016-04-04
My son is 10 1/2 and has been wetting almost every night. I tried EVERYTHING to try to get him to quit, including getting him up in the middle of the night and limiting fluid intake at night. Nothing worked. I am SOOOOOO tired of buying pullups, and he is too big for them anyway at 105 lbs and 5'1. After only 2 weeks of use, we are 4 nights dry!!!! He is proud of himself and I am super excited!
4 stars, 3 weeks in and already saved a ton on laundry detergent
By Random name from Boise ID on 2016-04-01
The bed wetting alarm we got is loud and vibrates. According to our doctor my child is a deep sleeper and that's why he wets. I was concerned that the alarm wouldn't wake him up, it does and does a great job too. When it detects moisture the alarm vibrates and makes a different sound everytime. This essentially scares him just enough to stop wetting and so that he can run to the restroom. There is little to no mess on the bed and just a spot on his underwear. Great product!!!
5 stars, yes we will buy again
By gavin from nevada,ia on 2016-04-01
this alrm works good but needs a way that the kids cant take them off on there own
5 stars, Worth the money!
By Elizabeth from Connecticut on 2016-04-01
My 9 year old son is nearly cured 5 weeks after beginning and his self esteem has been boosted. This product was worth the money. I wish we had bought it sooner!
5 stars, Should have bought this product earlier
By Nicole from Chula Vista on 2016-03-31
5 stars, This really works
By Ski Racer from Madison WI on 2016-03-31
Pros: Easy to use for my 8 year old child to use
Cons: My child moves a lot and soemtimes it falls off.
I didn't think this product would work, but it does and after 2 weeks of use my child wakes up and takes care of business, happy dry child, and happy parents. This really works and we can dump the diapers now
4 stars, Don't know how but it works.
By Jim from San Diego, CA on 2016-03-30
Pros: Easy to hook up, Loud enough to hear from another room
Best Uses: Used underwear for sensor, Sound and Vibrate mode together
My seven year old son was still wetting his bed so bad that even Pull-Ups would blow out and wet his bed. We could see how this was affecting his demeanor. We tried everything from cutting off drinks at a certain time, waking him up in the middle of the night (heavy heavy sleeper). The first week, he set off his alarm 3 time a night fully wetting his bed as he was not wearing a pull up. The second week he only had a couple of minor alarm sets but not enough to wet his bed. By week three, he was having zero bed wetting. We would hear him get up on his own in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. We are on week four and 2 weeks of no bed wetting. He even earned $20 for the first week of no bed wetting which would have been the cost for a package of pull-ups. The only con I had was that I could not just pick one sound out of the 8 as a favorite. You would have to set off the alarm then reset to cycle through. ** Also, beware that this could scare the heck out of you child when the alarm is activated. We made the mistake of leaving his door closed, he ran into it in a panic.
5 stars, Awesome product! I would by this a thousand times over.
By Mom of a 13 yr old from New Hampshire on 2016-03-26
Pros: easy to use, love the choice of vibration and/or sound, easy to conceal during a sleepover, confidence booster, good length on cord, light weight
Cons: none !
Best Uses: training and creating independence
My son is 13. I could vacuum in his room while he slept and he wouldn't wake up. There is no family history of bed wetting. Each year his PCP said 'it will get better as he gets older' in regards to him waking up and going to the bathroom at night. It just never happened for him. During this years physical I mentioned it again and he started crying. He is a social boy and I know he said no to sleepovers because of his bedwetting and pullup use. Somehow he managed to hide the pull up and dispose of it during his Boy Scout summer camps but there was no disposal for weekend campsouts so he didn't go on them. The alarm is working great for him. He has had friends sleep over the last two weekends, uses the vibration only, and no problems with discovery. He has had stretches of dryness, the longest being 5 nights in a row now. I wish I had pushed my PCP for a solution sooner. I wish I had done this when he was 8 or 9. I am all for giving his body time to grow but this wasn't a growth issue. this was a training issue. Training his body to hold his muscles tight when he is in deep sleep. I am very glad we purchased this device.
5 stars, Don't waste another $ on pullups!
By Alexis from PA on 2016-02-25
This product is truly amazing. Our 7-year-old daughter was daytime potty trained at 23 mos. She was still waking up SOAKED every single night once she turned 7 and started to get upset by it when her younger sister was in underwear at 3 years old. My husband and I thought we'd be buying pull-ups for the rest of our lives. We tried limiting water, waking her up ourselves, and other ideas, but to no avail. Our pediatrician recommended this product (her son had used it, too) and so we figured we'd try just about anything. We clipped it on her underwear, put a pull-up over it, and ran the cord under her shirt and clip the alarm at the top. She never complained about how it felt to sleep with the alarm. The first 9 night the alarm actually woke her, which was amazing since she is an extremely deep sleeper (we didn't think anything would wake her) and she stopped the flow and made it to the bathroom. After 9 nights, she continued to wake up dry, so we continued another 14 days, as recommended by the manufacturer, and since then she has been alarm-free and dry every night! I can say we wish we attempted this sooner. This is really one of our best purchases ever...please don't hesitate to purchase. I will be saving money on pull-ups! Good luck!
5 stars, Don't delay - THIS PRODUCT WORKS
By Momof3 from Central Jersey, NJ on 2016-02-04
I am not sure why I was so against alarms. My pediatrician – whom I like, and find her advice sage, had suggested them to me. I think I always believed my kids would just self-train (my 3rd child did soon after potty training at 2 years old). In retrospect, I wish I had purchased this alarm YEARS before. We tried every strategy, but my almost 10-year old and nearly 8-year old were still wetting the bed EVERY night. We purchased one alarm to train one at a time (even though the warranty only covers up to 6 weeks – not even the average time to train one child). We started with our 10-year old girl. She was a little afraid of the alarm (how loud will it be? What is the vibration like?") I think she was so afraid that she was dry the first two nights. Wooo-hoooo. But that ended. We had a parent sleep in the room with her. Not surprisingly, she slept through the alarm. It was shocking – it was loud and vibrated, and she slept through it – until we shook her to wake her. She vehemently denied that it was going off. But, she learned to wake at the alarm, and in about 2 months she was dry for 14 days straight. Our nearly 8-year old son took to the alarm much quicker. Early on he would stop mid-pee as the alarm went off. In maybe 5 days it went from soaking the bed to just a spot of pee on his underpants to nothing. In six weeks he did his 14 consecutive dry days and has been dry ever since. (We did this 8 months ago and NO relapses) He complained of the feeling of the wire on his skin, so would wear 2 t-shirts to bed – so the one would keep the wire from touching his skin. We trained him in the summer, so he was a bit hot, but it was not a painful training period. I look back at all the money we spent on pull-ups, the effects of being trained late had on their self-esteem, the piles of laundry (when they peed through the pull-ups or the periods we tried self-training them), and the hassle (bringing pee pads when we visited relatives or on vacation) and WISH I HAD DONE T
4 stars, Product Works Wonderfully, but Customer Service Lacking
By SJM from Michigan on 2016-01-28
This alarm worked wonderfully for our 9 year old son. He slept too deeply at night to wake up to go to the bathroom. He started having dry nights within the first week. Only took him about 5 weeks to complete treatment, and he is very happy to have solved this problem. I would highly recommend the alarm itself.
5 stars, So far so good.
By Snohomish Snacker from Golden State on 2016-01-09
We're only three weeks into the process, but our boy seems to be responding more quickly to the alarm, plus just having more completely dry nights.
1 stars, Not Great
By VNP from Toronto on 2016-01-04
I'm not sure if it's because my son is just an extremely heavy sleeper but we've been using the unit for well over a month and it has yet to wake him up.
5 stars, Really makes a difference!
By Momma from New Jersey on 2015-12-24
My son, now wakes up on his own to go to the bathroom - after one week!
5 stars, I would buy this product again
By joanne from moncton ,Ccanada on 2015-12-21
Pros: Small and compact
Very happy with the product. My 7 year son only used it for 4 days and then started to wake up at night to go to the wash room. Now I do believe he was ready, but with the alarm it must have done something to get him to wake up. He is now 16 day's dry.
5 stars, Worth every penny!
By Happy Mom from Reinholds, PA on 2015-12-17
Product was amazing!
4 stars, It works as magic!
By Irene from FL from Fort Lauderdale, FL on 2015-12-09
My daughter is 7yrs old and turning 8 next Feb. She never had a dry night ever in her life. Not only that, her pull-ups were soaked to the point of saturation in the morning. We tried everything, and nothing worked. Her doctor recommended these products, and we bought it. The first week was a total mess: the alarm would go off 3 times a night, my daughter wouldn't wake up, or if she did, she'd cry and be upset about the alarm sound, and scared of the vibration. I don't even know how we pulled it thru and kept trying. "Magically", by the second week, she would only have one episode, or none. By the third week, she was dry. She now sleeps 12 hours without waking up or wetting her bed!! She is so happy to have overcome something she felt shameful of, and we can't be happier either. The only "con" I found is the wire being too long and getting tangled. We taped it with paint tape to her night gown, but a nicer way to shorten it would be great.
5 stars, Great Bedwetting Alarm
By Melissa L from South Hadley, Ma on 2015-12-07
I used this product for Potty Training at night for my 5 year old daughter. It was at the recommendation of a child psychologist she meets with. My daughter has a developmental delay and sensor issues. I was worried about the loud noise of the alarm although I allowed by daughter to hear the alarm and touch the alarm becoming familiar with it. She was surprisingly not afraid of the alarm sound and two night's ago was her first night without the alarm from a month ago and she woke up dry! I was so pleased and happy that she is completely potty trained and I have the Malem to thank!
4 stars, Almost perfect
By Tanner's Mom from Northern Virginia on 2015-12-04
Pros: User friendly, it works!
Cons: Doesn't work when child is sleeping on side, Expensive
One thing I would change about this alarm is how difficult it is for my son to put it on, and to disconnect it once it goes off. Half asleep, he cannot remember to unlatch it from his underwear, then push the button on the top piece, then pee, then dry out the underwear sensor before putting it on his new underwear. I even have a hard time sometimes doing it quickly it in the middle of the night. Another thing I would change is the price, although it is worth it. And the last thing issue I have with it is that when my son sleeps on his side, the alarm won't go off right away because it is usually placed on the center of the underwear, so he pees down the side. It has to soak through the whole side and spread up to the middle before the alarm catches it. My son sleeps on his side often. Sometimes I try to guess which side he might sleep on, but usually it's the opposite of what I picked. So there are some nights that it is as though we didn't use it at all, which is discouraged. It has to be used every night to work properly. All that being said, I would definitely buy this again. We've had much more sleep than we have in a long time. My son is gradually going longer hours between the need to go pee. He's also going all night sometimes with no alarm going off and no peeing the bed. It might be a longer period of usage for us than others, because it is as though we are skipping some nights, but I would definitely recommend this. My son is 5. He's been potty trained since 2, but could never sleep without peeing. I stopped using pull ups about 6 months ago and we tried to wake up all through the night to take him to the bathroom. None of us were getting any sleep (Me, my husband or my son). Using this, my son finally gets rest at night, and his behavior has drastically improved. Poor guy was exhausted every day and acting out terribly. Right away I noticed the change.
5 stars, So far so good.
By Brandon from Phoenix on 2015-12-02
My daughter is such a heavy sleeper sometimes it doesn't wake her in time. But something about it has changed her mindset and she is waking up dry more often than not now.
