    • I ordered this in July 2016 for my 7 year old. He was not yet having any confidence issues regarding bedwetting, but we wanted to get ahead of that potential issue. He is an extremely deep sleeper and had had only a handful of dry nights ever before we tried this (and had tried so many other things - waking him to go before we went to bed, limiting liquids before bed, limiting milk, just sleeping in underwear and hoping the wet feeling would wake him and work itself out etc). We put an old baby monitor in his room and the first couple of weeks were rough with the alarm going off several times each night (it was like having a newborn!), but after that his body started to "get it" and after about 4-6 weeks we were down to it going off primarily in the morning just before he woke up. I will say that he is not one of those who was done in just a few weeks though - he seems to have a very small bladder and so he wore the alarm for probably 6 months. We used the one sound alarm and later switched to the multiple sounds, but mostly because he wanted to try that out. After a couple months he was able to handle the whole thing himself and I no longer used the monitor in his room. I will advise that once in awhile it would go off because he was sweaty - not really a fault of the alarm, more the type of underwear he had on at the time - but just a heads up to other users to keep that in mind if you are monitoring nightly progress. We've passed it to our next son (nearly 6) and he has been using it for a week with much faster progress than my first son had, so I would say I've used it with one who was in the small percentage they say who are not "cured" in just a few months and one who seems like he will fall within that standard example. Overall I would recommend it and would buy it again. Stick with it when it gets rough and when he/she has a meltdown in the middle of the night after several days in (this has happened to me with both!) and pick your battles.
    • Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

If you asked your child which bed wetting alarm they would choose, this would be it! Kid's love the "cool" colors and design, and parents love the Easy-Clip sensor that children can easily clip onto the underwear themselves. This very small alarm is great for children less than eight.

Parents often ask if a single tone or 8 tone alarm work "better" to cure enuresis. Since there is no research to support the selection of one type over another, the choice is a personal one. Pure behaviorists would recommend a single tone bedwetting alarm, while families whose children seem to "tune out" sounds quickly might choose a random tone alarm. Both alarms work well in alerting the child and family that they need to get up to go to the bathroom.

This Malem alarm takes 3 A76 Batteries that last for approximately one hour of sounding time. Extra batteries (set of 3) can be purchased for $6.00 here.
