“Children with bedwetting all go to bed hoping that tonight will be the night they wake up dry. After reading my book, you will be prepared with the right tools to help your child achieve this goal. This book provides detailed guidance for anyone using a bedwetting alarm. Bedwetting still affects as many children as it did 10 years ago. I have continued to learn from my patients since my first book was published in 2004. I am passing on this updated information so you can quickly and permanently help your child get to dryness.”

4 stars, Don't try the alarm without it!
By Frazzled Mom from Upstate NY on 2016-06-03
Before reading this book, I struggled big-time with my 9-year-old son. He has been cursed with bed-wetting genes on both sides, and he's SUCH a deep sleeper and abhors getting out of bed in the middle of the night to empty his bladder. This being true, it was disheartening for me, a single parent, to wake up to the offensive noise of a bed-wetting alarm just to be met with his negative attitude about night-time training. After 15 WEEKS of using the alarm, I was at my wits end, thinking for sure that my son's "laziness" for waking up was to blame. Unwilling to give up, I did some searching online and came across the reviews for this book. I ordered it and received it in only 2 days. It was a very easy read, and within an hour, I learned everything I was doing wrong, everything that I *should* have been doing but wasn't, and immediately shifted my approach. You see, you can't just stick your kid with an alarm with all good intentions of getting them out of bed each night and having miracles happen. I talked with my son with a new zeal about how we were going to nail this thing. He got very excited and his nighttime attitude did a 180! No exaggeration! Within just a couple weeks, my son had a 9-night dry streak! Night 10 he did wet himself, but 9 days is HUGE progress. (14 days means "cured"!) If you're struggling with getting results with your bedwetting alarm, then you MUST order this book.
5 stars, Wonderful.

This book helped us tremendously with my five year old. He went from wetting every night no matter what we tried, to totally night trained in less than a month.
5 stars, Your best friend through the process
By Looking Up from West Virginia on 2014-07-01
Pros: Very clear, Very Very Practical, Very understandable, Very readable
Cons: A little repetitious
Best Uses: Use It As A Refresher, Use It When Things Change, Use It At The Beginning
I'm so glad I got this book at the beginning. Don't skip it! It gives you a good understanding of how to use the alarm most effectively. I highly recommend it. It is a little repetitious, but that is not all bad. It means you can read a chapter by itself and understand it even if you have missed a previous chapter.
4 stars, Was a good reference
By Liz from Stratford Ct on 2013-11-14
Was a good reference to understanding why my daughter was wetting the bed at 9. She is adopted and no one in our biologic family were bed wetters. Also was a nice compliment to the alarm system and understanding why it worked.
5 stars, honest and no nonsense
By worried mom from Knoxville, TN on 2013-11-12
I bought this after getting a recommendation from a physician friend with a daughter with bedwetting issues that had been resolved for about 1 month. I bought the book along with the pad alarm. The book is matter of fact, very honest, and identified my daughter's patterns exactly. We sought treatment for our daughter from a pediatric urologist for about one year before trying other avenues and this book has given me more useful information that our pediatric urologist did in one year. The best thing it has done it to calm some of my worries that our daughter was experiencing some extreme case of bedwetting. After reading the book, I see that she is not atypical. She has been using the alarm for about one month, and we are already seeing some signs of improvement.
5 stars, Informative

Best Uses: W Night Wetting System
Read before using nighttime dryness system. Helps inform potential issues, does and donts, and how/why some older kids wet.
4 stars, Useful
By Kim from AZ on 2013-04-22
Pros: Helps Build Patience, Reassuring, Informative, Comes Free W Alarm Kit
Best Uses: Getting To Dry Nights
I received the book a couple weeks after the alarm. The book is a quick read, but helps an anxious parent who is looking for a better solution than limiting fluids, waking up nightly to wake the child. The alarm method is a better way. We have a 12 year old, and she is RELIEVED to have dry nights! Phew!
5 stars, Indispensable
By Kara from Boston, MA on 2012-08-08
Pros: Easy to read, Comprehensive
Best Uses: Priorduring use of alarm
I debated about whether to buy this book along with the alarm, but am so glad that I did. I began casually reading it a few days before my son began using his bedwetting alarm and was impressed at how thoroughly it addressed all aspects of bedwetting. Resolutions to issues I hadn't even considered yet (How to measure progress? Is this really working if my son doesn't even seem to be awake when we're taking him to the bathroom? When to stop using the alarm? What to do if my child 'relapses' after no longer bedwetting?) are presented. I had no idea there might be a "honeymoon period" nor that 10-12 weeks is a typical amount of time to eliminate bedwetting when using an alarm, and had I not known, might not have appreciated the real progress that we ARE making. Interesting research about the hereditary component of bedwetting is mentioned, as well as many practical suggestions to make our experience more convenient and successful. I may bring this to our next visit with the pediatrician so he can recommend it to the (many) other parents who would surely find it helpful and reassuring.
5 stars, Should be mandatory reading
By FP from Vancouver, BC on 2012-07-14
Best Uses: Use with alarm
I was unsure if I needed this book, but got it in my starter kit. I began reading the very detailed book and learned so much about bedwetting and the different causes and stategies. As I progressed I learned the behavioural approach to how the alarm actually works. I don't think I could have been as successful with the alarm approach if I had not read the book. In it it details the week by week approach to follow and what one should expect. I'm now in week 8 and we are at 9 nights in a row. Having read the book I know when we can begin decreasing the use of the alarm. This book is a must fo all wanting to try the alarm.
5 stars, Get this book if you buy an alarm
By Happy Family from Boise, ID on 2012-07-06
Pros: Informative, Lots of answers
Best Uses: Bedwetting
We don't know what we would have done without this book. We sat down and read this guide in one evening and I'm sure glad we did. If you were like us, we were a little unsure how the alarms really work and the manufacturer's instructions are pretty basic. This book had a great section on questions and answers. That was very helpful.
5 stars, This is a great partner to an alarm
By mrsrockinrev from Lockhart, TX on 2011-10-27
Pros: Written in a logical way, Easy to read, Very informative
Best Uses: Use with bedwetting alarm
I read this book very quickly marking and underlining as I read. My 15 yr. old son is a type one diabetic with developmental delays. To my surprise, this book dealt with these issues! We started using the alarm in July, 2011. He has been consistantly dry for 23 nights in a row. The last nine nights we have used the alarm every other night while staying dry each night. We have 5 nights to go before we will not need to use the alarm any more. It has been so wonderful not to change sheets in the middle of the night. He is waking ON HIS OWN to use the bathroom when needed at night. I learned so many facts and details as to why my son was a bedwetter. I would never have understood all that I do now without this book.
5 stars, Couldn't have done it without the book
By cabmd from Indianapolis on 2011-02-21
Pros: Very helpful resource
As a Family Physician, I have recommended the potty alarms to children with enuresis for many years. Now I have a child with enuresis, and I would have had NO IDEA what to really expect before reading this book. It's very practical and easy to read. It's easy to implement the suggestions. A nice nightly progress chart is even included. We're not done yet but well on our way.
5 stars, Must read for Family Practicioners!
By Slogger1 from Southeast IA on 2011-01-24
Pros: Well written short book
Book is easily understood and made me feel confident that is wasn't something that I was doing wrong as a parent.
4 stars, Read the Book

Read this book before you put the alarm in to use. Very helpful in understanding and answers questions about bedwetting.
5 stars, I didn't believe it would actually work!
By cp from boston, ma on 2010-04-25
Oh my goodness! My 8 year old son was starting to really suffer psychologically from his bedwetting. He had become aware of the stigma attached and I could see his self confidance falling (2nd graders are tougher than I ever would have thought). On the recommendation of his Pediatrician and his own readiness to try something, we tried it. The first few nights were AWFUL! The alarm is loud and very disturbing. He was panicking, I was panicking, I wasn't falling back asleep b/c my body was pumped full of adrenaline and panicking that the alarm would go off again...(we are noise sensitive)...then all of a sudden, he went down to 1 episode at night, then one night he had a dream of being in a swimming pool and not being able to get out (that was a wonderful chance to tell him that it was working and his brain was trying to wake him up). THE REALLY GOOD NEWS is that 3 weeks later, he has had 4 DRY NIGHTS!!!! He is even waking up to go to the bathroom on his own! and his self confidance has jumped back up to where it had been and even beyond! He is so happy, I am so happy... Another plus is he is waking up more rested than before! The downsides are that we both started blocking out the one alarm and we needed to switch to one of the noisier sounds. I am glad I chose the changeable model with vibration...we needed to be able to change sounds and even be able to choose which alarm to set it to...I played them and he decided which was too scary and which might be just right! another downside is that it really was disturbing at night and took all my parenting skills to remain calm, upbeat, positive... I am just so happy with this and so amazed that it really does work!!!
5 stars, Good book
By Amy from Mansfield, TX on 2009-09-02
Pros: Practical, Straight-forward
Definitely buy this book if you are going to be using a bedwetting alarm. It walks you through the steps in order to achieve dryness quickly. It also includes weekly progress charts which were instrumental in keeping track of progress and encouraging the child. My 6-year-old son was dry after only 4 nights!
4 stars, Helpful information
By Finally Dry from NJ on 2009-06-27
Purchased this book along with an alarm for our 5 year old boy, who had never had a dry night! We have been following the steps for 3 weeks now and we have had 2 totally dry nights, and he has been doing wonderful with the help of the alarm. He is also very proud of himself and happy to be wearing underwear to bed. I am so happy that I purchased this book and alarm.
4 stars, Very helpful book, buy it when you START
By Queen LaShoppa from Philadelphia, PA on 2009-06-08
Pros: Lots of good ideas, Clear Instructions, Easy to read not boring
Cons: I wish I read it sooner
I purchased the book after my son used the alarm for four months and was still having trouble. I wish I had it from the beginning, I think it would have helped us greatly. I found most interesting the food suggestions. Our doctor didn't discuss these at all. My son is the biggest milk drinker in the world and after dinner, frequently eats cheese or yogurt to fill himself up. Now I learn that so much dairy can impact his ability to stay dry! Get the book at the beginning, it may save you some headaches and heartaches.
4 stars, Provided a lot of insight.
By Sweet Momma J from Baltimore,MD on 2009-05-03
Pros: Great progress charts, Detailed
Best Uses: Reference
My daughter will be 6 next month and had never had a dry night. She was very motivated to learn so after researching, we decided to purchase the alarm and book combo. Last night was the 14th night to use the alarm and her very 1st dry night! The book provides great detail about enuresis: from physiology of the urinary system to the causes and myths. The steps to take when you begin are helpful along with the progress charts to track specifics.
5 stars, Vert Informative, Helpful info. on alarm
By Dawn the P.T. from Cleveland, OH on 2009-03-14
Pros: Explains causes, Troubleshooting section, Nice tracking chart
Cons: Finding the time to read
Best Uses: Before using alarm
Very organized and informative. Explains causes of bedwetting. Compares pros and cons of several different alarm systems (aids in selection). Tracking chart at the end of the book is better than what comes with the Malem alarm system. Troubleshooting section is nice. More in depth information about how to start and when to finish using the alarm than what comes with the Malem alarm. Read it before I started using the alarm for our 6 yr. old son. Found the information very helpful. (The alarm works, too! It is our third week and our son has been dry sleeping through the night for 8 consecutive days. He never even had 8 nights in total dry in his entire life. He is so proud of himself. That is the best.)
4 stars, It's changed our lives forever!
By Jenn the Eager Beaver from Isanti, MN on 2009-03-05
Pros: Explains in detail, Fantastic motivation, Energizes change, Easy to read
Cons: Needs life stories, Didn't list our alarm
Best Uses: daily
I read this book from cover to cover to better understand my 8 year old daughter's bedwetting problem. It brought to light a lot I didn't know about bedwetting and gave both my daughter and I the freedom we needed to conquer this problem. I'm grateful for what this has done for our family.
5 stars, Value That Really Works

Before spending $2500.00 on an agency to help you, read what Nurse Mercer has to say. The steps laid out in this[$] book are the same methods used by the agencies charging thousands of dollars. The book provides immediate help while the agency requires you do mail in your data and wait for them to send you the next step to try. My child was completely dry within two months after 15 years of wetting. Thanks Nurse Mercer!
