Comments from the Bedwetting Store

"The beauty of this kind of storytelling is that it enables children to apply the many lessons interwoven throughout the story to other areas of their lives where issues of control and self-appreciation are important." 'Stay positive and supportive about your child's wetting problem. Remind him of other problems that felt daunting that together you found a way to master."

Sammy the Elephant and Mr. Camel: A Story to Help Children Overcome Bedwetting

by Joyce C. Mills, Richard J. Crowley, Marcy Ramsey (Illustrator). (Paperback) Second Edition

Sammy the Elephant and Mr. Camel is a gently empowering book for children who have trouble staying dry. This encouraging story about a delightful little elephant will help children learn to overcome problems with wetting. A comprehensive healing metaphor, it addresses feelings of insecurity, frustration, and ridicule while encouraging children to find inner strength to overcome their challenges. Now in its second edition, Sammy the Elephant contains additional guidance for parents by children's author and psychologist Jane Annunziata.

This animated allegory aims to empower children whose self esteem has been affected by their trouble with wetting by encouraging positive thinking, self-appreciation, and belief in one's own abilities. Sammy's journey is not specific to bedwetting, so this is one of the few books available that is appropriate for children with daytime or nighttime wetting.

  • Comments about Sammy the Elephant and Mr. Camel: A Story to Help Children Overcome Bedwetting:
I took this book home and read it to my son. It is a wonderful story with colorful pictures and a positive theme of "you can do it." The advice is not just related to bedwetting, although there are subtleties throughout the story that allude to the problem. There is some helpful advice for parents at the end of the book as well. This would be a perfect book for your child if their confidence is shaken from bedwetting\u2014the message of taking advice from others, practicing and believing in a positive outcome can be applied to so many situations.
  • bottom line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
