Malem Multi-Choice Alarm

J-MO17

Now there is a Multi-Choice Malem bedwetting alarm that has all the features-in one product! This is the perfect choice for families who want to select from any combination of stimuli to suit the needs of their child.

This alarm can:

  • Record and play 3 messages, which can be triggered individually, in sequence or randomly
  • Be selected to play 1 of 20 programmed popular melodies
  • Play 1 of 8 programmed sounds designed to wake the deepest sleeper
  • Vibrate with the sounds or vibrate only
  • Light up only-to notify caregiver or light up when the sounds play

Larger in size than the other Malem wearable alarms, the alarm unit still comfortably attaches to the shoulder of the nightshirt with a sturdy plastic clip. The Easy-Clip sensor attaches to the outside of your child’s close fitting underwear to quickly sense the first drop of wetness. Once activated, the alarm sounds with your pre-selected message or sound. A melody or parent’s voice can be selected for children who are concerned about the sounds. Volume control allows you to select the sound loudness. The alarm sounds until the sensor is removed from the wetness and the reset button is depressed, allowing enough time for your child to effectively respond to the alarm.

  • This is the only alarm that offers 33 different combinations of voice, melodies, programmed sounds and vibration. Children with special sensitivities or ones who respond better to a parent's voice or melodies would benefit from these options. Some research suggests that children respond best to their parent's voices. This alarm allows parent's recorded voice to be the stimulus to alert their child.

Working within 2 weeks of use

We have been consistently using the alarm for about 2 weeks now for my 7.5 year old daughter. She was so so anxious about the alarm because she is a high anxiety kid who even as a 7 month old would stare into the baby monitor and start talking/crying. We had used two different bed wetting alarm systems, one which was a wired one similar to this (but only had a beeping sound) and another which was WiFi based (but also only had a beeping sound). She was so much more relaxed once she heard the different randomized tunes on this device. It was good that it can be randomized because I don’t want her to have negative associations with a specific song.
After the 1-1.5 week mark of consistent use according to the directions, she started to stay consistently dry overnight, and would wake up before the alarm to go use the restroom. We will continue to have her clip the alarm to her undies for a few more weeks before trialing discontinuation.
The only thing I wish would be different is the music turns on anytime the clip is open, whether or not there is water on the sensor. I don’t know if this is how it’s programmed?

    Special education teacher raves!

I’ve taught non-verbal students with severe cognitive impairments aged 9-12 years old for the last 15 years. I’ve bought probably 40 Malem recordable alarms over the years (all but 5 with my own money). I love this product. I believe my students deserve the safety and comfort of being potty trained. Their families deserve the freedom. Have you ever tried getting a baby sitter for a 12 year old who pees and poops themselves? These families can’t! The children in my classroom come to school trusting me to teach them life skills and toilet training is the top of my list. Here’s my most recent success story. On July 5, 2022, I put 5 students in underwear and Malem recordable alarms. Today, Wednesday, August 10, 2022, we have had ONE poopy accident and no pee accidents among all 5 students so far this week. Last week was equally awesome. These kids are amazing, and without Malem, potty training would be nearly impossible. Thank you Malem!!!

    Hasn't been helpful

The sound is very loud and does wake my son up, however it still hasn't helped change any of his bed-wetting. If we had to do it again we would not get a sensor with sounds only vibration.

Effective, reliable, and easy to use!

My daughter was a full-on, bed soaking wet every night bed wetter. Age 6. She stopped wetting the bed within the first two nights. She has only set off the alarm three times since and we just started week 4. The cheaper Malem non-recordable alarm would probably work just as well. She sometimes clips the soaker box onto the ear of a stuffed animal. It still wakes her up. I am also impressed with the alarm's durability.
