Malem Ultimate Bedwetting Alarm

This is our best combination sound/vibration bedwetting alarm. It is slightly larger than the regular Malem alarm and the vibration is similar to a pager. If you are considering purchasing a similar "potty alarm", this is the alarm for you. It has BOTH sound and vibration. Remember, most children need help during the first few days or weeks to awaken when they wet. An auditory bed wetting alarm is necessary for you to help them.

Parents often ask about a single tone versus a multiple tone alarm. No research has been conducted to determine if one tone is more effective than another for curing enuresis. This is a personal preference.

Pure behaviorists would recommend a single tone bedwetting alarm. The one tone Malem alarms (blue, purple, pink) sound the same each time they sound. (Note that each color is a little different sounding.) If you're working with more than one child at a time, select different tones so you will know who needs your help.

Some families have found that their child seems to tune out sounds quickly. For this situation, a random 8-tone alarm would be beneficial. The gold alarm has 8 tones and is always random (you cannot choose to select only one). The three selectable tone alarms offer you all the options - the ability to choose a single tone or to rotate through 8 tones. The selectable bedwetting alarm is available in magenta, royal blue or camouflage.

  • SOUND AND VIBRATION IN ONE ALARM! Everything you need, now in one compact bed wetting alarm. The Malem ULTIMATE combines light, sound and vibration to help even the deepest sleeper wake. A selectable combination of sound and vibration suits the needs of the child. A selection switch can be easily set to sound only, sound and vibration, or vibration only.

Compact and lightweight (less than two ounces including two AAA batteries) with all the advanced features and advantages of the world famous Malem bedwetting alarms. In addition to vibration, the different alarms provide one tone (purple, blue, pink), 8 random tones (gold) to prevent "auditory accommodation", or the newest Selectable model (magenta, royal blue, camouflage) that provides a choice of single sounds or 8 random sounds.

The alarm is connected to a small clip-on sensor which detects moisture and anchors to the outside of any close fitting underwear for boys or girls. No sewing to hassle with or metal clips or snaps to come undone during the night. No mini-pads to buy and attach each night! Sensor contacts are within the clip so skin contact or sweating will not trigger the alarm. The alarm sounds until the sensor is removed or the reset button is pressed, allowing you or your child sufficient time to effectively respond to the alarm.

Included with every Malem bedwetting alarm are instructions for use, charts to track progress and batteries. The MALEM ULTIMATE uses inexpensive AAA batteries that last up to 10 times longer than standard "button" batteries found in nearly all other bedwetting alarms.

    Good product

My son has been using it successfully in the last 2 weeks. He had some accidents but we feel it is working.

    Alarm doesn’t work consistently

Sometimes the alarm will not go off even if my son wets the bed.

There could be a few factors that may be happening.

First, Make sure that you are attaching the sensor correctly. The sensor should be clipped onto the front, outside of close fitting underwear. If the sensor is not placed correctly, it may delay the sensor’s detection of moisture.

Second, your child may not be waking up when the alarm sounds: Make sure you place the alarm box high up on the shoulder area of your child’s pajama top so that it is not muffled by blankets and is close to his/her ear. Parental help may be required at the early stages of treatment as most children (even the ones who do not wet) are deep sleepers.

Third, your Easy-Clip sensor should be cleaned every 3-4 days. It is important to clean this sensor regularly to ensure the proper functioning of the alarm, as urine build-up on the sensor will cause the alarm to act erratically. To clean the Easy-Clip sensor, use warm water, a mild soap, and an old toothbrush. Remove the sensor from the alarm box and scrub the sensor with the toothbrush and soapy water, making sure that you scrub the metal jaws thoroughly to remove any urine residue that may have built up on the inside of the sensor. After cleaning, rinse with water and shake or air dry. This should be done during the day when the alarm is not in use.

If any of these factors are not applicable, please feel free to call us at 1-800-214-9605 and we will be happy to further assist you.

    Going well

We have only used it for 3 nights so far, but it has made my son (8yo) realise that he does wake up with the need to go but tends to fall back asleep quickly and miss the opportunity. The alarm is re-waking him and so hopefully will break him out of this habit in the longer term. We are feeling really positive about it, and so is our son. He is loving being able to wear undies to bed and not a pull up.

The first couple of weeks using the device my son had a few accidents at night, but then by the third week or so he didn't have any more accidents. Something just clicked with him. So glad he seems to be over the bed wetting problem!

    It worked!

It feels like a miracle. After 4 days of the alarm waking us up in the middle of the night, my daughter is now dry at night. I wish we had tried this years earlier. We did have difficulty initially getting it working, but after a phone call the issue was resolved.
